Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Third grade is a year full of new adventures, responsibilities, and fun! From being the role models of our hallway to writing down our homework at the end of each day, 3rd graders are taking on more responsibility than ever before. An introduction to multiplication, cursive, and lots more make this year one to remember!
Burley 3rd graders study many interesting subjects. In Reader’s Workshop students read a variety of texts. Some types of literature include short stories, realistic fiction, and fables. Our Math Trailblazers Curriculum contains math fact strategies and practice, problem solving and computation, and hands on investigations. Inquiry Workshop is part of our Science and Social Studies Curriculum. Topics that we study are simple machines and forces, the arctic tundra, immigration, and Chicago. In Writer’s Workshop, students learn how to write memoirs, essays, and short realistic fiction.
